Why super greens?

So much of our diet now is made up of processed food and processed sugars that are all highly acidic in nature. With this kind of lifestyle, it becomes essential to include super greens as a part of our daily health regimen. We all know how important greens are for our health. Super greens help our body maintain a strong immune system and detoxify from all the harmful acids we consume. You might have seen super greens & super foods’ popularity boom over the last few years, but actually, they have been used for health and healing purposes for decades. Let us dive into the benefits of a few super greens:

Spirulina is a blue – green algae which is rich in chlorophyll, protein, beta-carotene, and the fatty acid GLA, which is a freshwater plant. It has the highest protein content, gram for gram, of any food on the planet. Your body runs with an ample amount of supply of real amino acids. With spirulina you get true, undamaged aminos. Nutrient deficiency is typically the number one cause of overeating. By eating amazingly nutrient dense foods like spirulina, you are giving your body the raw materials it needs to keep you healthy and trigger the secretion of the satiety hormone leptin to help keep your appetite in check. Spirulina is also incredibly high in calcium with over 26 times the calcium in milk. It’s vital nutrients provide strength and energy.

Moringa is rich in vitamin A, B, C, D E and K, calcium, and potassium. Known as the “Queen of Greens”, moringa is a storehouse of nutrients, minerals and antioxidants. Your body gets energy from the food you eat and most of it is used for repairing the normal wear and tear of cells that occurs. Therefore, moringa powder is great a of boost of energy. Interestingly, the moringa leaves contain three times more iron than spinach. It is also rich in magnesium that help in fighting tiredness and fatigue. Inflammation can lead to chronic diseases like diabetes, respiratory problems, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, and obesity. Moringa helps reduce inflammation by suppressing inflammatory enzymes and proteins in the body.

Chlorella is abundant in chlorophyll and nucleic acids. There is actually no other food that has more chlorophyll than chlorella. Its tough outer cell wall helps bind with heavy metals, pesticides, and other carcinogens and carry them safely out of the body. Helpful for everything from weight loss to cellular detoxification, liver support, and immune function this simple little organism packs a big nutritional punch. Humans require a broad range of essential amino acids in order to provide the building blocks for everything from muscles to hormones to neurotransmitters. Though only a single celled organism, chlorella provides a complete profile of amino acids, so it can help keep energy levels high and the body healthy. Chlorella is also high in Vitamin B12 as for vegans and vegetarians it can be hard to find dietary sources, so chlorella makes a great option.

If you are going to take a super greens drink on a daily basis, look for something with as wide a nutrient profile as possible like a blend which includes the super greens mentioned above. Beware! Spirulina has a taste and smell that is only matched by a mouldy, stagnant pond and is one of the main reasons super green drinks get a bad reputation for tasting like pond life. Thankfully there are blends available that are much more palatable. Unived’s Daily Supergreens powder is very much drinkable and includes all of the super greens mentioned before, as well as, some more beneficial ingredients. For those who cannot always achieve the daily requirements of nutrition, grabbing a super greens mix with water early morning is a great nutrition upgrade to your already great or not so great health regimen.
