INTERESTING FACT ABOUT ME
I am currently a Medical Intern at a hospital in Mangalore. I aspire to be an Orthopaedic surgeon. I paint occasionally and love reading books.
I play the violin and would love to resume learning the art someday.
I also love crossfit and would like to be a certified coach.
I loved playing football and always had this dream to represent my college and university but that came to a close when i took a hit and tore almost all the ligaments in my left knee.
I had also just started off with Med school and I thought I had to give it up and focus on studies so I put off the surgery by a year. That year took a toll on the joint and by the time I got the surgery done, I had gone from 66 kgs to 92 kgs and I hadn’t realised that with over a year of bad eating and drinking, I’d even forgotten how blessed I was to have this body. It broke me, how I’d never be able to play again the same way or how careful I had to be moving on. 6 months into rehab, I slowly started jogging 1-2 kms and that turned into occasional 5ks and that was huge for me. A year after my surgery I found myself signing up for a half marathon. It was super hard at first but now I’ve gotten conditioned pretty okay. I can still occasionally feel the weakness in the hamstring and how I can’t really have full range of movement in my left leg but that limitations makes me go harder. In the end, I still represented the college at state and the university at the national level. Sometimes dreams do come true.
MY GREATEST SOURCE OF MOTIVATION
I dont think there is a single greatest source of motivation for anyone. When I’m on a run, I’m motivated by a lot of things. My thoughts just keep me going. I think about the other runners and what they’re going through, that motivates me. I think about my parents, especially my mother, she was a sportsperson too and that motivates me.
Every story I come across motivates me. Eliud Kipchoge, Mo Farah, Shalane Flanagan, Desiree Linden, Scott Jurek, David Goggins, Rich Roll the works.
Just being there, having the freedom of doing what I love keeps me going because I know there are so many factors that could’ve held me back but there’s more to life than succumb to them.
I’m a part of the Manipal runners club and they’re such a beautiful bunch of people. So pure, passionate, motivating and happy and each of them have got amazing stories
