We know that athletes are a resilient bunch. Their determination seems to shine through even more when faced by extremes of trail and weather. This month, we had the chance to hydrate two very different events separated by geography, but joined together by passion and scientific hydration by RRUNN.
We experienced a special kind of rush – all the way in Nepal – with the Himalayan Rush Triathlon 2015. The vistas of the Annapurna ranges, the beautiful but challenging swim in the Lake Begnas, and the endurance test of running and cycling at high altitude – Himalayan Rush had all the ingredients for a thrilling event and it delivered! Held in association with the Nepal Triathlon Association, the event sought to promote the sport in the subcontinent, and encourage participation from local athletes. By all accounts, the Himalayan Rush Triathlon 2015 was a superb success and a true celebration of endurance sport. We congratulate all participants, and hope that RRUNN was pivotal in helping them navigate and conquer this challenging course.
First it blew cold, and then it blow hot! Away from the snow-clad mountains, RRUNN fuelled another action-packed course at the Kundalika River Marathon 2015. The humidity and heat of March couldn’t stop around 450 enthusiastic runners from enjoying a fantastic nature trail run, combined with the challenge of tough inclines. Hydration is especially key in such weather to prevent the loss of electrolytes and endurance capability to sweat, and we are happy to know that there was plenty of RRUNN at the aid stations to keep the runners going like well-oiled machines. The presence of a ‘rain dance’ was a cherry on top after a sweltering race – what a fantastic touch to end a highly enjoyable event!
From a picturesque triathlon in Nepal, to a refreshing evening run in Kolad – we are constantly thankful for all the opportunities that we get to hydrate wonderful athletes, touch base with the community, and to experience the collective joy of sport.
