Cheering on at the Yeour Hill Run Challenge 2014

Running transcends the act of pushing oneself physically. It exemplifies the sheer exhilaration of reaching out for more, feeling the adrenaline course through you and revelling in the joy of being human. The only thing that makes this experience even better is when it becomes a shared one and we at Unived were privileged to partake in it.

On the morning of 17 August, it was heartening to witness runners of all ages and from all walks of life coming together in Thane for the Yeour Hill Run Challenge 2014, in a perfect encapsulation of all that is good about this city. From budding nine year participants to runners in their golden years, to the jaw-dropping endurance of some runners who chose to run barefoot; neither the rain nor the challenging terrain of the Yeour Hills could dampen the enthusiasm of the nearly 500 participants.

The main event was the 15 km challenge which kicked off at 6.30 a.m. from Hiranandani Meadows, followed by the 6km run, the 4 km ‘green run’, 3 km run and the 1.5 km fun run.  While most folks prefer a cozy lie-in on a Sunday morning, the professional and amateur participants alike ran for the environment, taking a stance against plastic pollution.

It was a celebration of healthy living and accountability for our environment, which is why we were present in solidarity. Our upcoming drink RRUNN was the event’s official energy partner and we were entrusted with the responsibility of keeping the participants energized to achieve their best in this demanding challenge.

There could not have been a better setting than the serene, rain drenched Yeour hills for this celebration of the body and the spirit, nor a more inspiring call to take responsibility for protecting our natural surroundings. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible experience.

Take a bow, runners. You were all magnificent!
