Career Highlights

Finally running a sub 2:45 marathon back in 2019 after years of terrible performances at the distance

After watching the 2012 Olympics on the UKs “super Saturday” where we took 3 gold medals in one evening, I decided I wanted to get fit and pursue running! Sadly, it took another 3 years to make that journey become a reality but on the 1st January 2015 I embarked on a challenge to get as fit and as fast as I possibly can!

UP CLOSE, AND PERSONAL

To me Sports is…

positive attitude, positive mindset and positive lifestyle.

On a typical training day…

I do: I get up before the kids go to school and enjoy my early morning run.

I eat: Once home I have a Unived Elite Recovery Mix if it was a hard session or I tend to have nut butter on toast/in a wrap.

I wear: I wear whatever clothes I can find in the dark mornings!

I recover by: I recover using my spiky lacrosse style call and foam roller.

I cross-train by: I walk a lot for my cross training.

My idea of effective training session is…

to work hard but be in control as you always need to keep the ball rolling onto the next session.

The moment when I discovered my athletic potential was…

when I was training for a mountain marathon in 2019, I realized I enjoyed and was able to work the hills quite well so I knew this was something I wanted to train for again in 2020.

The three biggest lessons I have learned so far in my  athletic career…

  1. Don’t be a session warrior, there’s no point in giving 110% on a Tuesday morning when you’ve got the rest of the week to still run and get other workouts complete.
  2. Enjoy the simplicity of the sport, put one foot in front of the other and be grateful for the opportunity.
  3. Run your own race, you’ll get the best out of yourself that way

Before a big race I tell myself…

You’ve put endless training miles in for this moment, you know you can do it, just be disciplined, controlled and execute the plan.

The toughest race of my life was…

OMM trail marathon 2018, extremely hot after a freezing cold winter… hit a major wall around mile 18 and had 8 miles to walk the hills back to the finish line, went from 2nd place to 7th!

The most memorable moment of my sporting career so far…

2:44 marathon in 2019.

My training sanctuary is…

the forest trails.

My dream starting line is…

to line up on a world major marathon with other incredible running youtubers.

I nourish my soul with…

Music.

Unived helps me by…

to keep training at the high level I need too whilst making me feel great at the same time.

In 2021 I am setting my sights on…

So sub 2:40 and get a championship marathon time for London in 2022 and be competitive in some summer trail races. And of course, spread the word about Unived!

I have chosen to associate with Unived because…

I love their products and so does my body, the gels are fantastic, the drink mix is amazing and the recovery mix is the best on the market. Not to mention their incredible ethos…..

My favourite Unived product is…

The Elite Recovery Mix (and Salted Lime Gels)
