Ultra-Distance Trail Runners
Birthday: August 16
Current Location: Boulder, CO
I grew up primarily in the Chicago suburbs, plus a few years in Vermont. As a kid, my family and I did road trips to the Rockies every summer and I loved Colorado so much, I’d actually cry in the backseat when we had to say goodbye to Longs Peak! I did my first trail race when I was in 5th grade and was immediately hooked. (I’m pretty sure I started my first training journal when I was 11 years old.) I ran cross-country and track through middle school, high school and college and never stopped loving it. I ran my first ultra in 2016. I remember sleeping in my car by the start line the night before and being so excited I couldn’t sleep. I vividly remember waking up that morning in the back of my car thinking, “this ultrarunning thing is going to change my life. I don’t think I’m going to be the same after this.”
I’ve won some races and walked my way to the finish in some races. But without a doubt, my career has been most defined by the lowest, ugliest moments where I’ve continued when I thought it wasn’t possible.
Up Close, and Personal
To me, sport is…
an honest unveiling of the masks your body and mind constructs in order to discover how deep you can really dig.

The three biggest lessons I have learnt so far in my athletic career is
1. No challenge is too great when you’re committed to your ‘why’.
2. When things go south in a race, you’ve gotta look it head on and own it. No excuses.
3. Run joyfully, preferably with a Madonna song stuck in your head.
